I have been asked to write an introduction on adventure games to be a part of the Spotlight on Adventure Games on RevDeveloper.com. While it has been a very long time since I was involved in the industry, I used to work for a company that worked with Japanese companies in the late ’80s/early ’90’s to prepare their games for the US market. One of those Japanese companies was HudsonSoft.
I posted a brief introduction to adventure games earlier today on the RevDeveloper wiki.

This is the first time in about three years that we’ve missed out on main SIGGRAPH event, SIGGRAPH 2006. A lot of folks see this as a digital 2D and 3D event but its also fairly meaningful for developers, especially game developers. For example, most video board companies show off the programmatic capabilities of their latest and greatest boards. Also, there are the vendors offering SDKs and game engines every year.
Although we wont be there in the flesh, our sister unit Meshbox Design will have some representation there at the e-frontier booth.
If you are in the Boston area, its worth going to - there are often a lot of developer jobs posted at SIGGRAPH.

Welcome to the IconPeople presence on RevDeveloper. IconPeople and its evil twin Meshbox Design are the 2D and 3D sides of the same business. We create user interface elements - especially icon sets - that developers can use to improve the overall appearance of their applications.
IconPeople icons are popular because they are inexpensive and they are developed with cross-platform concerns in mind. Chances are, if you subscribe to Future Publishing’s magazines MacFormat, Practical Web Design or .net Magazine, you already have some of our work.
In addition to royalty free libraries, we also do custom graphics work, including logo creation and entire websites. If you have visited the main Runtime Revolution website, you have already seen some of our work.
We are excited to be a RevSelect Vendor with Runtime Revolution. Our artists look forward to developing new content that is especially attractive to Revolution developers.
